The Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) assumes responsibility for the delivery of nursing and first aid services to employees or persons who are ill and/or injured on the job in accordance with facility policies, practices, and procedures. The Occupational Health Nurse demonstrates critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of care and consistently performs according to their scope of practice, nursing standards and occupational health and wellness. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care within the RN scope of practice
Performs focused interviews to identify specific patient needs
Knowledgeable of nursing techniques and information needed to treat acute injuries/illnesses onsite
In-depth knowledge of health and safety measures
Assists in meeting Occupational and Safety Health Administration (OSHA) regulations
Manages crisis’s and emergencies safely and efficiently
Helps to maintain and preserve the health of employees in their work environment
Analyzes and prioritizes risk factors to achieve the highest level of health among employees
Communicates information to supervisors, peers, insurance agencies or customers as applicable following HIPAA regulations
Identifies and prioritizes actions based upon care requirements
Provides a safe, confidential, comfortable and therapeutic patient environment
Documents patient’s response to nursing and other interventions
Monitors safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment
Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices
One year prior professional Occupational health experience preferred
Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
