We provide SEMs, TEMs, and DualBeam™ FIB-SEMs combined with advanced software suites to take customers from questions to usable data.Position Summary: The Advanced Technology Group in Hillsboro, Oregon is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Beam Chemistry Scientist to specialize in the use and development of Focused Ion Beam-Scanning Electron Microscopes (FIB-SEM Dual Beam Systems). This role focuses on developing advanced beam chemistry methods and techniques for beam processes, materials analysis, and sample preparation across a variety of fields including semiconductor, materials science, and life sciences. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in research with a focus on beam chemistry, materials characterization methods and Dual Beam system operation.Responsibilities:
Innovate and implement novel techniques to enhance the performance and capabilities of FIB-SEM systems.
Develop innovative chemistry processes for Dual Beam systems, optimizing deposition, etching, delayering and imaging processes.
Conduct research and development on chemically assisted beam processes and SEM imaging to meet customer-specific requirements.
Actively participate in developing FIB-SEM sample interactions understanding leading to technology-related patent applications.
Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings.
Provide technical expertise and support to internal and external partners.
Desired Qualifications:
Master’s degree plus 5 years of proven experience in Chemistry, Material Science, Physics, Solid state physics or a related field. A Ph.D. with research experience preferred.
Strong understanding of beam-sample interactions and gas-assisted etching and deposition techniques.
Proven track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals is highly desirable.
Proficiency in Dual Beam Systems operation is a plus, including imaging, milling, and sample preparation.
Experience using laboratory equipment, including lasers, imaging setups, spectroscopy, high voltage, vacuum systems, etc. Bonus: Proficiency in optical design, simulation, and characterization of optical systems.
Proficiency in designing and conducting experiments, as well as analyzing and interpreting data.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and record keeping skills.
Hands-on experience with analysis tools (e.g., EDS, EBSD, ….).
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment but also comfortable working independently.
Experience programming in a scripted or compiled language.
Ability to lead small-sized projects.
