The City of Veneta is a progressive community located twelve miles west of Eugene with a close proximity to the Fern Ridge Reservoir. We are currently accepting applications for a Utility Worker I position with a focus on landscaping and grounds maintenance work The selected candidate will join the Public Works team to perform a variety of work for the City including semi-skilled labor in construction, maintenance, repair and service activities related to the City’s Public Works function. This is a full-time position with potential for some weekend and overtime work. Salary range $44,511 - $63,353 based on qualifications, with excellent benefits.
Mandatory position requirements include:
Possession of a valid Oregon Driver's License.
High School diploma or equivalent educational certification.
Ability to read, write, document data, listen, comprehend and follow written and/or oral direction.
General knowledge of equipment and tools typically used in a public works department.
General knowledge of types and level of maintenance and repair activities generally performed in public works
operations.
One to three years of experience in related field or other combination of experience and training which demonstrates
adequate knowledge of materials, methods, technology, practices, techniques, and reporting regulations
typically used in ordinance enforcement, general construction, park facilities, street construction, drainage
systems, concrete facilities, and in water and wastewater system operation.
Ability to obtain minimal certifications in water, wastewater, or other public works area.
Exposure to basic mechanical and electrical systems; interpreting and working from sketches, penciled layouts and
blueprints for minor projects.
Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time. Physical ability to perform the essential job
functions.
