Looking for an experienced mechanic who wants to do meaningful, hands-on work AND make good cash. This is a Toyota Celica engine rebuild project—but it’s also about helping a young man finish what he started. We have a brand new engine build kit.
My son is autistic, and over the past year he’s put in an incredible amount of work fixing this Celica—brakes, replaced and wired sensors, exhaust system, fuel pump, catalytic converter —you name it. The last major job left is the engine, which is currently stripped and mounted on a block. He's had a few set backs over the past few months and needs some 1-1 help and motivation to lift his spirit. He had it running great and this would be a good step to lift his spirit. It was my car in college and I'd also appreciate seeing it running again.
We're looking for someone who:
Knows engine rebuilds (Toyota 4-cylinder or similar)
Has their own tools (not required but very helpful)
Is patient, encouraging, and okay working with my son as your assistant
Can work in a private garage with hoist and basic tools available
Wants to get paid well and enjoy the process
Job Details:
Pay: $75/hr CASH
Paid $400 when engine is successfully connected to the transmission
Final payout: Based on total time to finish with a running car
Estimate: 10–12 hours total
Schedule: Flexible (weekends, afternoons, or split over multiple days)
Tools available: Engine hoist, stand, basic mechanic tools
You bring: Mechanical knowledge, some of your own tools (if possible), a good attitude
This job is ideal for a:
️ Retired or semi-retired mechanic
️ Pro wrench-turner who likes project work
️ Mentor-type person who enjoys helping someone learn
️ Tech with free time looking for paid side work
You’ll have full support and space to work. My son will be helping (handing tools, learning steps, asking questions). This will be a huge confidence boost for him and a chance to learn from someone real—not just digging through YouTube.
