Back to the Roots Landscaping is seeking help in landscape maintenance work, starting in May. We are an established, medium sized landscape business, fully licensed and insured. We usually work in two person crews, working on lawns and ornamental gardens. Some work is with machines and some is with manual tools. Typical tasks include mowing, hoeing, edging, hand weeding, blowing and raking. Additional work may be helping with planting, lawn restoration, pruning, clearing, mulching, irrigation and other, less routine work that comes up. We are seeking both full time and part time people to help this 2024 gardening season, ending in early or mid December. We hope to hire people with genuine gardening passion who would like to do this work long term. Our best seasonal people continue from year to year and may be promoted to become crew leaders. Our work is Monday - Friday during typical work hours.
Our company is committed to doing our work as responsibly and sustainably as possible and we have been local leaders in this way since 1999. We use organic fertilizers. We do not use any biocides. We have run our trucks on biodiesel since 2003. Our power tools use biodegradable oil mix. In 2022, we converted power tools for 2 of our 5 maintenance crews from two cycle gas powered to clean, battery power and we will convert the others as soon as we can. Our irrigation work emphasizes responsible water use.
Candidates with previous, verifiable work experience are great and plant and gardening knowledge is especially appreciated. Occasionally, however, applicants with more enthusiasm than experience may be able to do the job. We can train people to do what we do if someone has the right attitude and a very strong commitment to learning. We encourage men, women and non-binary people to apply. The work rarely feels heavy, but is steady. Applicants should be comfortable with laboring or being in motion for 8 hours in any weather. Busy days often include more than 5 miles of walking. We will not work in air quality pollution that exceeds 150 on the AQI scale (red zone or worse).
