OMRI is seeking a Software Developer to join its growing IT team to maintain and improve in-house software for the organization. Reporting to the IT Manager, the Software Developer will help ensure that OMRIs software takes advantage of the best practices in technology to deliver OMRIs material and product data in an accessible and searchable format. Further, you will work in a collaborative team environment to implement new tools and frameworks to help OMRI improve its services.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience with Javascript, C#, .NET, and Entity Framework. We are most interested in a Software Developer who can see the big picture and learn new skills quickly.

About OMRI

The Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) is a leading nonprofit organization working to strengthen the organic industry. OMRI operates an internationally recognized evaluation program that reviews and lists input products for use in producing, processing and handling organic food and fiber. OMRI Listed® products may be allowed for use in operations that are certified organic under the USDA National Organic Program or the Canadian Organic Standards.

Location: On site at our offices in Eugene, Oregon

Major Responsibilities

Commit clear and well-documented code into version control systems that adhere to the principals of maintainable software

Identify, document, test and correct bugs in existing code in collaboration with OMRI staff

Update database records and schema in conjunction with code revisions

Develop forms and reports as needed

Respond to direct requests for immediate assistance from OMRI staff by troubleshooting, solving and documenting urgent problems with custom software

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Degree in computer science, computer information systems or a related field preferred

1+ years of experience in software programming

Skills

Required

Experience with C#, .NET, Entity Framework, and SQL Server

General relational database theory and software design principals

Comfortable with programming in new languages under a mentoring environment

Ability to work constructively as part of a dynamic team

Strong customer service skills

Superior written and oral communications skills

Willingness to participate in professional development activities, ability to acquire new skills and ability to adapt to change quickly

High level of attention to detail and ability to process complex information and business logic

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, organize information, complete tasks in a timely fashion, and appropriately handle confidential business information

Preferred

Familiarity with and support for the organic community

Knowledge of .NET, LINQ and Git

Working knowledge of document control processes and techniques
