$31.20- $46.80/hour: Pay will be dependent on qualifications and in accordance with Oregon's Pay

Equity Act.

This position is intended to last through June 30, 2025, and there is some flexibility on the number of hours per week (full-time or part-time).

Overview of Position:

The City of Springfield is excited to offer a temporary Transportation Planner I to join our team to enhance Springfield’s hometown feel while focusing on livability and environmental quality, improving our infrastructure, and fostering an environment that values diversity and inclusion.

As a Transportation Planner I, you will play a vital role in our efforts to develop a Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. This initiative aims to evaluate the current active transportation system and recommend actionable projects that will promote safe and sustainable transportation options for all residents. In addition, the position will assist with ongoing activities including transportation options planning, regional coordination, public outreach and stakeholder engagement, grant writing and implementation, and administrative support.

Key responsibilities include:

Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan Update: Assist in the evaluation and assessments of the existing active transportation system and help recommend projects that enhance bike and pedestrian infrastructure.

Transportation Options Planning: Work regionally to analyze and recommend strategies for improving various transportation modalities.

Regional Coordination: Collaborate with local, regional, and state agencies to ensure alignment on transportation policies and initiatives. Participate in policy discussions that influence transportation planning in Springfield.

Public Outreach and Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate community engagement through workshops, surveys, and public meetings to gather input and disseminate information about transportation projects and plans. Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including community organizations, advocacy groups, and residents, to ensure their perspectives are integrated into planning efforts.

Grant Writing and Implementation: Assist in identifying funding opportunities, writing grant proposals to support transportation initiatives and enhancements.

Administrative Support: Provide support in the preparation of reports, presentations, and documentation related to transportation planning efforts. Assist in maintaining project schedules and budgets, ensuring effective project management.

Training & Experience:

The City will consider any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications. Such a way to meet minimum qualifications could include:

Bachelor’s degree in planning or related field, and;

0-2 years of relevant planning experience which can include planning policies and procedures, or reviewing planning applications or related documents

Transportation planning is preferred

Selection and Interview Process:
