Middle School/High School PE Teacher

Job Summary / Overview: Position is responsible for creating a classroom environment that fosters, promotes and develops an understanding of the relationship of healthy body function and exercise; that motivates each student to cultivate physical fitness; that discovers and develop talents of students in physical achievement; and that develops strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual and team physical activities and sports.Key Duties & Responsibilities:Demonstrate motivation and enthusiasm with a genuine passion for teaching all learners.Demonstrate the ability to create a student-centered classroom.Facilitates student's physical, cognitive and social and emotional learning through lessons designed to sequentially develop skills appropriate to their ability and confidence levels.Provides engaging, fun, and effective instruction that helps build a health and wellness foundation for students.Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness using the Oregon Core Standards.Implements Oregon Core Standards with rigor, purpose, and planning.Provides maximum participation for all students; differentiates as needed to ensure all students experience success.Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge and strategies of games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement.Develops engaging and effective lesson plans and supplementary materials.Provides ongoing formative feedback to students.Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of students.Evaluates academic and social growth of students and keeps appropriate records to include report cards, attendance records, checklists, and other recordkeeping activities.Communicates with parents, school counselors and administrator on student progress.
