The Holden Center strives to serve as a model, activator, and collaborator with Student Life staff, student groups, and other members of the university community in the development of curricular and co-curricular opportunities rooted in socially responsible leadership development and community engagement that empowers and challenges students to make positive impacts in their communities and develop transferable skills for personal and professional growth. Position SummaryReporting to the Director of the Holden Center, the Coordinator of Leadership Development is responsible for developing and coordinating comprehensive leadership development programs that enhance student learning, support skill development, and promote social responsibility for all UO students. Historically, these programs have serviced over 2,000 UO students each academic year by producing over 100 workshops and individual sessions. The coordinator is responsible for all aspects of program development including planning, marketing, contracting, risk management, budget management, assessment, and annual reporting. Programs and involvement opportunities are designed with an equity and inclusion lens and marketed to appeal to a diverse student population. The coordinator supervises and mentors 8-10 student employees. This is one of two coordinator roles in the Holden Center.As a member of the administrative team of the Holden Center, the Coordinator of Leadership Development will meet and work regularly with other Holden Center staff, cultivate strategic relationships on and off campus, represent the Holden Center on division and campus-level committees, and serve as a resource to campus constituents (faculty, staff, and students). Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in leadership, human development, counseling, ethnic studies, gender studies, education, or a related field. One year of work experience facilitating leadership development or student organization advising. Experience supervising, training and/or mentoring student employees or student leaders. Professional Competencies Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion, and ability to use critical perspectives to work effectively with an increasingly diverse student population. Knowledge of relevant student development theory and application in a higher education context. Knowledge of relevant leadership theory and models, and their application in an educational context. Demonstrated experience in program planning and event management. Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively and collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, community members/partners, and other stakeholders from varied backgrounds. Demonstrated effective communication skills. Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, including setting priorities, achieving program and department goals, and performing multiple work assignments simultaneously with acute attention to detail. Familiarity with political, social, and cultural issues as they pertain to student engagement. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in leadership, student affairs, higher education, or related area. Experience developing and coordinating leadership development programs in a higher education setting. Demonstrated experience in curriculum design and group facilitation. Demonstrated ability in assessment of student services and use of assessment results to make changes that improve the delivery of services and programs for students.
