Overview

We seek to hire a full-time Natural World Teacher, Naturalist, and Outdoor Pursuits Co-Teacher at Oak Hill School in Eugene, Oregon, for the 2024-25 school year. This faculty member serves as an integral member of the school, contributing expertise in nature-based education and ecological stewardship. This position entails instructing students in forest ecology, local flora and fauna, and outdoor skills.

Major Responsibilities

Develop and implement engaging outdoor activities and curriculum for students in the Natural World and Outdoor Pursuits program.

Instruct students in class sessions and outdoor activities, fostering ecological awareness and appreciation.

Collaborate with colleagues to co-lead the school’s Outdoor Pursuits Program.

Assist in planning and executing community service initiatives related to environmental stewardship.

Conduct in-service training sessions to promote environmental education and sustainability.

Maintain and manage the Natural World classroom, including trails and ecosystems.

Lead nature-based activities and academic programs for students in all grades.

Instruct students in forest ecology, local flora and fauna, and skills.

Provide planning assistance for ecological stewardship and development of the school's property.

Qualifications and Attributes:

Bachelor's degree in education, ecology, outdoor education, environmental science, environmental education, natural resource management, or equivalent.

A minimum of two years of teaching experience.

Previous experience in outdoor education or environmental stewardship is preferred.

A positive attitude, excellent written and verbal skills, strong organizational skills, and proven success within a work setting that requires collaboration, cooperation, and collegiality.

Ability to collaborate and work with a team.

Understanding of differentiated instruction.

Affinity and enthusiasm for working with elementary-aged children.

Capacity to inspire others.
