Bridge Charter Academy of Lowell is a growing charter school seeking to fill a full-time (216-day contract which includes 11 paid holidays) licensed high school educator role (Subject Area Specialist) for the 2024-25 academic year.
Subject area specialists (SAS) are considered experts in their subjects and participate in high school program development through the lens of their subject area. SASs provide their perspective on course content, state standards, pedagogy, and decisions around how a subject area curriculum is used by families (i.e., details for coursework submissions, grading, etc.). SASs have autonomy to develop the ways in which their subject area courses are implemented at Bridge Charter Academy within the BCA mission and vision. They maintain accurate student grade records, research relevant and varied teaching strategies, and build a pool of knowledge on the subject area curricula. Families and SASs partner to select subject area curriculum, a process which the SAS grounds in balancing rigor and motivation. SASs may teach weekly in-person courses that supplement students' work at home. With direction from the High School Director, SASs take an active role on a HS leadership team.
The Mathematics Subject Area Specialist oversees and supports students in independent learning within the Mathematics subject area. The role involves both asynchronous and synchronous education. Asynchronous education is managed through Canvas courses while synchronous education is presented during weekly in-person classes.
