Job description: We are looking for a qualified lead teacher to join our amazing Unity School team. A creative teacher with a knack for helping children ages K-5 to have fun and stay busy with inspiring activities. A compassionate person who knows how to teach the children to solve their problems with peaceful conflict-resolution, how to use appropriate social interactions with peers and teachers, as well as navigating emotions. We are looking for a teacher who loves to incorporate activities like art, science, creative writing, practical life lessons, board games, and other fun activities in the classroom. Someone who can work well with multiple different age groups and wants to help our group of children grow to be the best community members they can be!
In the summer we provide a fun summer camp that the lead teacher will get to oversee and create. Unity is known for a lot of summertime field trips exploring within Lane County and beyond.

Hours: Typically, Monday-Friday, 1:00-6:00, on 4j and Springfield 'No School' days, 10:00-6:00. In the summer this position is full time, with a preference of a 10:00-6:00 M-F schedule. You will also be given an opportunity to be on the Sub list for other classrooms in the mornings for extra hours during the school year.
Supervises: Teacher Assistant or Aide
Responsibilities and duties: vary; upon assignment.
Preference: Given to candidate who has at least 1 year experience in a K-5 after school setting and is willing to learn how to drive the 14-passenger bus to transport children to and from public school programs, or on field trips and special activities. It is similar to driving an SUV or a U-haul truck and we will train you.
Education and Experience: Either a step 6 in ORO (preferred step 8), or 1 year of experience as a teacher in a certified childcare center, or degree or coursework in Elementary Education, Special Education, Recreation, or a related field.
