This is a part-time seasonal position with primary duty responsibilities during the dates the campground is open, generally May – November, weather permitting. The duration of this position is also dependent upon campground bookings.
Location:
Lake Creek Youth Recreational Campground is located in Logan Valley in Grant County, Oregon. The campground is in a remote location and does not have individual internet service available. The Caretaker is required to be at the campground weekly as needed to successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
Position Purpose:
The Caretaker maintains the grounds, buildings, and equipment of Lake Creek youth camp.
Essential Job Functions:
Use hand and power tools to maintain the grounds
Irrigate the grounds on a rotation schedule
Check restrooms daily to ensure that they are clean and supplied with paper products
Keep storage areas well-organized
Ensure equipment is fueled and operational
Keep logs of equipment maintenance
Regularly maintain camp vehicle
Transport garbage to the transfer station as needed
Adhere to standards of conduct (set by the Board of Directors) and camp policies and procedures
Clean and prepare cabins before and after use
Be familiar with and prepared for all emergency procedures
Keep the Camp Coordinator informed of any safety risks or unsafe conditions
Maintain generator schedule – start up 6:00 am, shut down 10:00 pm
Other Job Duties:
The Caretaker may be required to perform tasks outside of the essential job functions as needed which requires a neat an clean appearance with camp provided shirts
Relationships:
The Caretaker reports mechanical problems and any human resources problems to the Camp Coordinator and assists the Cook as needed. The Camp Coordinator may assign additional tasks. If tasks become overwhelming the Caretaker should alert the Camp Coordinator for assistance.
Qualifications and Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Have operational knowledge of hand and power tools and vehicles
Able to make independent and logical decisions
Willingness to work as a team
Excellent communication skills
Customer service skills and professionalism
Have an Oregon Food Handler’s card (required and paid if needed)
First Aid Certificate (required and paid if needed)
Valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance
Must pass a background check
Have basic knowledge of occupational safety hazards and precautions
Must be neat, punctual and have an eye for detail
Physical Aspects of the Job:
Must be able to lift 50lbs and work up to 14 hours/day with potential unscheduled breaks. This job also requires bending, squatting, twisting and reaching.
Pay:
Negotiable based on experience and education.
Housing:
There is a cabin or a camp trailer on camp property for the Caretaker to stay in rent fee. Cleaning deposit required.
