Live-In Caregiver Opportunity in Southeast Portland
Are you a dedicated, compassionate, and hardworking individual seeking a rewarding full-time caregiving position? Are you open to moving into our SE Portland home and trying out a new city? Our family-operated adult care home in Southeast Portland is looking for a live-in caregiver to join our team, providing personalized care to five wonderful elderly residents in a faith-based environment. You will be working alongside one other shift caregiver, so you'll never be doing the work on your own. Please do not apply if you cannot commit to at least 3 years of working. It takes a lot of time for us to train someone and get their training requirements completed, so this cannot be a temporary work position.
Position Details:
Schedule: Full-time live-in position with 5 workdays and 2 days off per week. You will be working alongside one other shift caregiver, so you'll never be on your own the caregiver to resident ratio is amazing compared to the hospital setting.
Compensation: $2,800 cash plus room/board/meals
Accommodation: Private room with a shared bathroom.
Meals: Enjoy the same nutritious meals prepared for our residents.
Transportation: A personal vehicle is not required, as our home is located within walking distance of various shops, restaurants, and coffee shops, providing convenient options for your days off.
Team Environment: Work alongside another caregiver for all shifts, ensuring a low caregiver-to-resident ratio and a supportive atmosphere.
Responsibilities:
Personal Care: Assist residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
Household Tasks: Perform housekeeping duties, including laundry, cleaning, and organizing, to maintain a clean and safe living environment.
Meal Preparation: Plan and prepare nutritious meals, considering any dietary restrictions or preferences.
Medication Management: Assist with medication reminders and ensure timely administration as directed by healthcare professionals.
Companionship: Provide emotional support and engage residents in meaningful activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
Spiritual Support: Respect and support the Christian beliefs of our residents and home, participating in prayers and fostering a loving, faith-based atmosphere within the home.
Requirements:
Fluent in English: Must be able to read, write, and speak English proficiently to ensure effective communication.
Compassionate and Patient: Demonstrate kindness, empathy, and the ability to connect with residents, fostering a nurturing environment.
Adaptable: Capable of getting along with multiple personalities and adjusting to varying needs and preferences of residents.
Willingness to Learn: No prior experience is necessary; however, applicants must be eager to learn and committed to providing high-quality care. This position requires bathing, personal care, and changing dirty diapers/linens. You must be OK with this and know that you’re helping someone in need.
Strong Work Ethic: Ability to manage caregiving duties alongside household maintenance tasks, ensuring a comfortable environment for residents.
Team Player: Exhibit a positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills.
Background Check: Willingness to undergo a criminal background check through the Department of Human Services (DHS).
