This is a part-time seasonal position with primary duty responsibilities during the dates the campground is open, generally May – November, weather permitting. The duration of this position is also dependent upon campground bookings.
Location:
Lake Creek Youth Recreational Campground is located in Logan Valley in Grant County, Oregon. The campground is in a remote location and does not have internet service available. The Cook is required to be at the campground weekly as needed to successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
Position Purpose:
The Prep Cook assists the Cook in all aspects of food preparation and prepares the dining room, ensuring it is ready for guests.
Essential Job Functions:
Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance with staff provided shirts
Maintain Safe food handling practices at all times
Prep food under the direction of the cook
Keep the dining room ready for guests
Serves food to guests
Use, clean, and store kitchen equipment properly
Help maintain and organize food inventory
Help receive freight deliveries
Keep a log of the dishwasher temperature
Be familiar with and prepared for all emergency procedures
Adhere to standards of conduct (set by the Board of Directors) and camp policies and procedures
Other Job Duties:
The Prep Cook may be required to perform tasks outside of the essential job functions as needed.
Relationships:
The cook oversees and assigns the duties of the prep cook. Human resources issues are directed to the camp Coordinator.
Qualifications and Certifications:
Current Food Handler’s Card (required and paid if needed)
Current driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance
First aid certification (required and paid if needed)
Basic computer skills
Ability to multitask effectively
Ability to work respectfully with diverse groups of people
Must be a team player
Must pass a background check
Able to adapt to changing needs and deadlines
Able to make independent and logical decisions
Must be able to follow directions
Able to demonstrate knowledge of kitchen safety hazards and precautions
Must be neat, punctual and have an eye for detail.
Excellent customer service skills
Physical Aspects of the Job:
Must be able to lift 30lbs and work up to 14hours/day on feet, with potential unscheduled breaks.
Pay:
Negotiable based on experience and education.
Housing:
There is a trailer or cabin on camp property for the Prep Cook to stay in, rent free. Cleaning deposit required.
