Materials Handler – Rail & Bulk Systems

Location: Lebanon, OR

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Schedule: Either (a) three 12-hour shifts + one 6-hour shift per week or (b) Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts (varies by team needs)

About the Role

Join a production team that keeps materials flowing safely and efficiently. You’ll receive and transfer raw materials from rail cars into bulk systems, monitor inventory levels, keep critical areas clean and compliant, and hand off accurate updates to the next shift.

Key Responsibilities

Receive raw materials delivered by rail car, including switching cars.

Verify car tagging for product reliability; transfer materials into the bulk system and change out bag houses.

Monitor, document, and stock silos, day bins, and load-outs; verify the bulk system is full before shift change.

Serve as the point of contact to update the oncoming shift about late-received material.

Monitor and replace oil-absorbent booms and sump drainage basin filter media.

Clean and maintain secondary containment areas.

Monitor well flow and complete required documentation.

Maintain clean, orderly workspaces (mix stands, unloading area, bulk rooms, boiler rooms, utility rooms) by sweeping, vacuuming, blowing, and/or pressure washing; monitor and maintain cleaning equipment.

Working Environment:

Schedule may vary weekly between the options above.

On your feet most of the day; may stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.

Physical motions include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and fine motor tasks.

Regularly lift up to 30 lbs, frequently up to 40 lbs, and occasionally up to 50 lbs.

Work near moving mechanical parts; regular exposure to fumes/airborne particles and heat; occasional exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals in the plant environment.

Must be willing and able to wear a half-face respirator as needed (requires shaving facial hair before reporting to work).

Eye and hearing protection required at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

Effective communication in English; able to follow verbal and written directions.

Ability to read and interpret a variety of written documents.

Problem-solving skills with multiple variables where limited standardization exists.

Reliable, predictable attendance.

Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Forklift experience.

Basic computer skills (email, word processing).
