Since opening in 1991, Newport Avenue Market in Bend, Oregon, has been the No. 1 choice for specialty food items and a wide array of local, regional, and international foods. In 2015, we became Central Oregon's first employee-owned grocery store.

Newport Market is hiring a Service Deli Manager to become their next team member.

This position is responsible for product management, food safety, quality control, merchandising, sales generation, gross margins, labor and general expense control, employee development, work safety, customer service, and department profitability. This position also educates employees and customers on product selection, recipe ideas, and meal solutions.

This position has supervisory responsibilities.

The right person for this role will have the following:

Current Food Handlers Permit.

Three (3) years of retail deli experience.

Two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and produce quality with deadlines. Responds with an appropriate "sense of urgency" when needed.

Proven ability to positively impact sales generation.

Ability to understand new concepts quickly, make sound business decisions, and see the big picture.

Flexible to changing goals and initiatives.

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Demonstrates a high level of self-motivation, takes initiative, and problem-solving.

Excellent customer service skills.

Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Possess strong knowledge of food safety.

Possesses creative and effective merchandising and display skills.

Possess comprehensive product information with a proven history of using knowledge to train.

Demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of food, including ingredients, applications, pronunciations, and culinary skills. Possess a genuine passion for food.

Strong leadership skills and proven history of employee development. Ability to effectively delegate and follow through.

Proven ability and willingness to interact and perform all job responsibilities professionally.

Understands and adheres to strict confidentiality guidelines.

Ability to input and navigate computers and software.

Proven ability to meet attendance requirements, dependable.
