Schilling’s Garden Market is seeking an experienced individual to fill the position of Farm Stand Manager.
The Farm Stand Manager is expected to provide leadership and management for our retail operation in accordance with our mission and goals. Our Farm Stand provides an outlet for the sales of produce, meat, and other locally sourced farm-based products as well as creating a memorable experience that engages the public and highlights local agriculture.
This position requires an individual who is well organized, has strong communication skills, has experience in retail sales and customer service, and is enthusiastic about local beverages, food, and farming systems. This person must be highly flexible and adaptable in our dynamic environment, yet able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with little supervision.
This is a full-time, year-round position.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Comprehensive experience in a management position.
Hospitality/bar and restaurant experience.
Previous POS experience.
Experience with retail environments.
Holds a valid/current OLCC Server’s Permit.
Demonstrate accurate and responsible management of a cash register and cash handling.
Wine, beer, and cider knowledge
Motivated, energetic, and flexible.
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent attention to product knowledge.
Must be able to regularly lift 50+ pounds
Must be available weekdays, weekends, and occasional evenings for special events.
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS (beneficial but not required):
Experience with VMX POS
Experience in agricultural environments
Plant/garden care experience
Oregon beer, wine, and cider knowledge
Working knowledge of produce, including handling and storage
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee all Farm Stand operations, which includes but is not limited to managing vendor relationships, ordering product, and inventory management.
Manage Farm Stand staff, which includes staff hiring and training, creating schedules, and maintaining staffing appropriate to customer volume and seasonal/event needs.
Monitor and ensure excellent customer service by all Farm Stand employees.
Create attractive merchandizing, including but not limited to product layout and display.
Actively seek local food, beverage, and hard goods to stock and sell.
Monitor inventory to assure freshness and excellent presentation of products.
Prepare inventory reports to maintain stock levels and trigger appropriate re-ordering.
Ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained facility.
Educate Farm Stand staff regarding stocked local goods and their makers/suppliers.
Work closely with Chief Financial Officer to provide accurate and timely data on sales, costs, inventory, and other related income and expenses.
Manage Farm Stand payroll and operations while adhering to projected budgets.
Lead development of overall Farm Stand goals and strategic plans for future growth.
Participate in staff meetings as needed to support the farm stand operations, to coordinate goals, and organizational needs.
Track appropriate sales and customer data to support Farm Stand operations and provide feedback to staff on product quality and public appeal.
Manage and/or delegate the organization and maintenance of on-site garden beds.
Supervise and help with patio reservations and field trips.
All other duties as needed to support Farm Stand operations.
Compensation: $24.00 - $28.00/hr (dependent on experience)
