The Council on Aging of Central Oregon is hiring an Accounting Assistant to support our Financial Operations Manager with payroll, accounts payable, and cash receipts. Hours
The schedule is 32 hours per week, Tuesday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. This position is located in Bend, Oregon.
Compensation
The salary for this position is between $22-25 per hour depending on experience. There is a 5% pay differential for bilingual candidates. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Payroll
Compile payroll data such as new hire paperwork, PTO, insurance benefits, and 403(b) deductions
Maintain payroll system data and pull management reports as directed
Process payroll on a bi-monthly schedule accurately and on time
Review timekeeping records for completeness and accuracy
Provide guidance and support to employees on payroll-related questions
Accounts Payable & Accounting
Maintain accounts payable system and process all incoming invoices for payment
Handle vendor disbursements, keep vendor lists accurate, and maintain orderly payable records
Maintain and process programmatic State vouchers
Record and reconcile cash receipts and deposits in accounting system
Assist with account reconciliations and month-end reporting as needed
Provide documentation and support for audits or financial reviews
Administrative Support
Provide front desk backup by answering and directing calls, and maintaining accurate call logs
Collaboration & Communication
Work collaboratively with program and administrative staff to ensure accurate financial tracking
Maintain data integrity in accounting and payroll systems
Compliance & Standards
Follow all Council on Aging policies, procedures, and protocols
Adhere to HIPAA and confidentiality standards for client, contractor, donor, fiscal, and partner information
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
High School Diploma or two or more years of office-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; college degree is highly preferred
2+ year’s progressive accounting experience in a similar work environment
Understanding of payroll processing preferred
Knowledge of payroll software or ability to learn specific applications
Proficient in MS Office, data entry, and office equipment
Proficient in customer service and problem resolution
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills
