COMPANY
Spurcycle is a small organization of capable professionals, engaged in an industry we love. Our work space is orderly and calm but far from corporate. We're a tight-knit group of individuals connected by a job but united as friends in a workplace we actually enjoy. We are driven to an unusually high standard of execution. This means we take time to avoid the boomerang pitfalls of rushed solutions. As with any attempt to do things well, there is pressure to get it right, but we embrace the challenge of problem solving and don’t just live for the weekends. Spurcycle is a lifestyle company in a lifestyle town. We know that bikes make things better. That’s reflected in our personal motivations, sense of community, design philosophy, and company expectations.
OPPORTUNITY
We're looking for new staff to assist with manual assembly and warehouse responsibilities.
Though tasks are basic and very repetitive, an ability to consistently follow procedural instructions is critical and continuous attention to detail is required. Our assembly team is a small group that operates in coordination across 3-4 independent work stations. Tasks include:
Folding paper packaging
Visual inspection of parts
Assembly using manual fixtures and basic hand tools
Final packaging of product
Operation of a single-station pneumatic riveting machine
The job pays well for the level of difficulty and skill required, but we expect motivated performance. This is a part of our company culture. Each team member must bring matching energy and cadence to the process. All other qualifications being equal, bike "geeks" win.
We typically work in two shifts Monday through Thursday: morning (7am-12pm) and afternoon (1pm-4pm). Minimum commitment of 24 hours/week. Max available hours of 32hrs/week at this time.
The shop is located less than 2 miles from downtown Bend and is an easy bike commute from the surrounding area. The work environment is friendly and not stressful. Some hours are social and conversational while others are spent wearing headphones, quiet and focused.
SKILLS
The ideal candidate has:
high attention to detail and consistent focus
strong mechanical proficiency
experience in a quiet yet collaborative work environment
an ability to follow process and inspection procedures reliably
a tendency toward organization and neatness
comfort with repetitive tasks
