Who We Are:

Heart of Oregon Corps (HOC) is a dynamic nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young adults ages 16-24 throughout Central Oregon. We provide opportunities for individuals looking to gain hands on experience through employment, job training, education, and service to Central Oregon communities.

Stewardship Program Overview:

Our Stewardship Program partners with Deschutes County Solid Waste, working together to help keep Central Oregon communities clean for over 20 years. Stewardship crew members service local transfer stations and Knott Landfill weekly- performing regular cleaning and maintenance duties such as litter management, sorting recycling, and more! This entry-level job training program will provide you with valuable work experience, professional development, and the chance to engage in meaningful projects, including fire fuels reduction work. If you're looking for a flexible schedule, a chance to make a difference, and an opportunity to build essential job skills, this position is perfect for you.

Responsibilities:

- Work within a team of 4-8 Stewardship crew members, supervised by HOC Crew Leader.

- General cleaning and maintenance duties at transfer stations.

- Sorting recycling, sweeping trailer bays, litter pick up.

- Lifting & transporting recycled tires and tv's.

- Participate in fire fuels reduction work projects through Central Oregon- opportunities for job training & education in wildland fire fighting.

- Maintain a positive attitude and represent Heart of Oregon Corps with professionalism.

Qualifications:

- No experience necessary, on the job training provided.

- Must be between the ages of 16 and 24 years old.

- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

- Effective communication and teamwork skills.

- Willingness to follow safety guidelines and protocols.

- Reliable transportation to our Bend program office.

- I-9 documents for hiring paperwork.
