Principal Accountabilities of the Position
The Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Coordinator is responsible for providing case management for the FSS program utilizing federal, state and privately funded programs administered by Housing Works. FSS coordinators coach program participants, conduct needs assessments, provide referrals to services and trainings, and support participants in achieving their goals. FSS coordinators also maintain program records, build partnerships with service providers, report on program outcomes, and perform other tasks as required to support the FSS program in accordance with Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulations and Housing Works’ policies and procedures.
Role of Family Self Sufficiency Coordinator
The Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) Coordinator is responsible for administering and implementing programs and services that will assist clients to seek and maintain suitable employment and reduce their need for public assistance in accordance with HUD regulations and Housing Works’ policies and procedures. The FSS Coordinator assists clients in developing their goals, creating a plan of action and accessing resources such as matched savings accounts, credit improvement, and career development.
This position is responsible for providing effective coaching, mentoring, and case management recruiting clients to participate in programs, accurately track progress in databases to be used for grant applications and reports.
This role requires high emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Additionally, the FSS Coordinator maintains detailed records, tracks progress in databases and builds partnerships with service providers and employers to support participants.
