School Aide
Deschutes River Montessori School is an authentic AMS Member School (established 2009). We are seeking a warm and loving, confident and talented School Aide for the 2024-2025 school year. Work hours are 9:30-5:30. Qualified applicants should be skilled in and love working with young children and be ready to spend their days in a joyful and fun school setting, get along well with fellow staff, possess a strong work ethic and be honest and kind. 6 months of experience preferred, but not required. Additionally, this position requires the ability to bend & kneel & crouch, walk & stand for long periods of time, sit on the floor, and perform light cleaning duties. Registration on the Oregon Central Background Registry is required as is completing a short series of required professional trainings.
Candidates should possess the ability and desire to:
Assist the Lead Teacher & Assistant Teacher in guiding the children through a full day, Montessori experience including indoor and outdoor work periods, snack and lunchtime, rest/meditation time, toileting.
Provide breaks for teaching staff.
Assist with dishes, laundry and cleaning/disinfecting.
Ensure playground and classroom safety (e.g., scan playground for safety hazards or water on floors in classrooms).
Act as substitute on an as-needed basis as assigned by the Director and Director of Operations in both early childhood classrooms and toddler classrooms at both the main location and our satellite classroom.
Assist the Lead Teacher & Assistant Teacher in providing skilled and dedicated classroom management and guidance and aid in the creation of a peaceful, normalized community of learners.
Assist the Lead Teacher & Assistant Teacher in guiding the children in their holistic growth and development.
Assist the Lead Teacher & Assistant Teacher in observing the classroom and students, and in implementing the Montessori lessons & enriching extensions across curricula.
