Job Description: Accountant – 32 to 40 hours/week with benefits
Position Summary:
The full scope Accountant will be responsible for:
1. Receiving, recording, and depositing all funds received in a timely and confidential manner
2. All business transactions, including managing general ledger transactions and transfers, accounts and reconciliation, A/P and payroll using specialized church management software.
3. Preparing monthly financial statements, tax payments, quarterly and annual reports.
4. Compliance with all governmental and church by-laws for business transactions.
5. Creating and reviewing donor statements on a quarterly basis.
6. Provide complete and organized records for an annual audit, review or other agreed upon procedures.
7. Help create, maintain, and administer all employee records and benefit documents as needed.
8. Attend and provide required documents for Finance Committee, Board of Trustees, and staff meetings.
Qualifications:
1. A committed disciple of Jesus Christ.
2. Approachable, personable, with a consistently positive outlook.
3. An accounting degree is preferred.
4. Knowledge of fund accounting preferred.
6. Proficient with MS Office.
7. Self-starter with extraordinary attention to detail and follow through.
Supervision and Collaboration:
1. The Church Accountant is part of the support staff team, collaborating to serve the congregation.
2. Reports to and assists the Senior Pastor with other business & administrative requests as needed.
