We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant with at least 5 years Workers' Compensation experience to join our Firm. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures in Workers' Compensation. This role is essential in supporting our legal team by managing case files, conducting research, and ensuring that all documentation is accurate and up-to-date. Responsibilities
Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
Manage case files and maintain organized records.
Knowledge of how to file Workers' Compensation pleadings on CaseOK.
Understand how to prepare Workers' Compensation settlements.
Drafting correspondence to adjusters, doctors and attorneys as needed.
Docketing court notices and pleading deadlines to ensure accuracy and compliance with court requirements.
Process incoming/outgoing mail as it relates to assigned case files.
Communicate with clients to gather information and provide updates on case progress.
Support the firm’s clerical needs, including scheduling doctor's appointments, depositions and mediations.
Utilize TimeMatters or similar legal case management software for tracking billable hours and managing client accounts.
Experience
Previous experience as a Legal Assistant is required.
Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law is required.
Proficiency in data entry and strong attention to detail are essential skills.
Strong proofreading skills to ensure the accuracy of all documentation.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced legal environment while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required for client interaction and collaboration with team members.
