RANCH HAND: This position requires performing general farm work as directed, such as operating and maintaining the operational condition of farm equipment, caring for livestock, mowing, etc. Assist in the daily operation of ranching operations
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with cattle in our cow-calf operation to include daily care, watering, minerals and practicing stress-free handling. Moving cattle in accordance with ranch practices. Setting up paddocks with portable electric fencing or other materials.
Mowing and baling hay
Moving feed and hay
Checking water sources
Familiarity with use of tractors, mowers, chain saws, etc.
Help with planting and harvesting other crops
● Work with sorting of cattle as necessary to tag, castrate, vaccinate, etc.
● Work on farm or ranch structures, such as buildings, fences (electric single line, electric portable and barbed wire), as well as road repair and maintenance as needed.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
● A background in farm/ranch life
Must be able to read English sufficiently to understand written directions
Understand directions for proper mixture, use and disposal/storage of chemicals
Driver’s License
Safely operate various types of farm equipment such as post augers, post drivers, portable power tools, sprayers, trimmers, chain saws, drills, saws, etc.
High school education or GED

● Equipment and maintenance knowledge / mechanical, aptitude
