Position Description:Gas Technician - Customer Service FieldJob Posting End Date: This job posting will be removed on January 11, 2024What You Will DoPerform work related to customer service field and leak survey activities.Maintain company vehicle. Load, unload, and operate tools and equipment including:Crescent and pipe wrenchesPliers and screwdriversMeters and regulatorsCombustible gas indicatorsLaddersCarbon Monoxide DetectorsNo Blow EquipmentFI UnitsPower toolsProbe BarPerform and assist with leakage surveys on pipelines including:Company distribution and transmission linesPublic buildingsDowntown buildingsSchoolsHighway and railroad crossingsManholesRepaired and unrepaired gas leaksTurn gas service on and off. Install and remove gas meters, regulators, and related equipment. Respond to Natural Gas related emergencies.Inspect, calibrate, maintain, and repair leakage survey tools and equipment.Patrol and maintain pipeline markers. Complete performance encroachment investigation surveys.Examine and adjust gas-fired equipment.Investigate customer related orders and emergency situations including:High billsCarbon monoxide/fumesPressure problemsPossible leaksFiresExplosionsAsphyxiationsNatural disastersComplete and update reports including:Gas leaks and work logsEquipment maintenance reportsMileage reportsTime sheetsGIS ApplicationsMaintain records including:Orders completedDriven milesCustomer informationLeak record information and maintenance work ordersMeter inventoryLeak classificationsYard line replacementsRegular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.Employee may be asked to perform additional responsibilities as assigned.What You Will NeedH.S. DiplomaWorking knowledge and training related to disconnects, reconnects, gas piping, and gas fired equipment.Experience in use, function, and maintenance of tools applicable to position.Experience with the application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (tested).Knowledge of use and function of customer service codes and forms.Knowledge of transmission and distribution pipeline system operations.Working knowledge of leakage survey procedures.Working knowledge and training relative to:Company and governmental customer service/safety proceduresCustomer service emergency proceduresUse electronic communications (cell phones, two-way radios) and PragmaCAD system (where applicable)Characteristics of natural gasBasic customer service activities Changing chartsLocate linesExperience of basic computer usage and applicable computer software.Read and interpret maps, blueprints, plats, atlas pages, wiring diagrams, pipe sizing tables, flow charts, house numbers, dials, gauges, work logs, service orders, and applicable operation and repair manuals.Read and write fluently in English.Applicable driver's license required.Lift and move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 10 15 times a day; up to 20 pounds 15 20 times a day; up to 40 pounds 10 15 times a day; over 50 pounds 2 3 times a week.Climb ladders; stoop, kneel, and crawl on floors and bare ground to access, adjust, and repair gas fired equipment, meters, and equipment.React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.Smell odorant in natural gas.Operate tools and equipment.Communicate and exchange information or instructionsVisual ability to perform job responsibilities.Travel over uneven terrain including: mud, gravel, sand, rocks, ice, and snowWalk, stand, kneel/stoop, and driving for extended periods.Push spud bar in ground and extract.Emergency call-outDiversity at ONE GasInclusion & Diversity is so important to us that we made it one of our core values, values that guide and direct our actions as we go about our daily business.
