The Pilot Plant Operator will operate various processes supporting the day-to-day operations of the PSM Pilot Plant units. The pilot plant operator will perform day to day monitoring of processes, proactively troubleshoot process issues, and work with other operators, engineers, contractors, and supervision to safely execute tasks necessary for the operation of a chemical process. The pilot unit operator must have a safety-first attitude and expect the same from his/her co-workers. #HPCPResponsibilities

Monitor chemical processes on a 12-hour rotating shift including weekends.

Uses mechanical aptitude to perform routine maintenance work with capability of using heavy pipe wrenches and other hand tools.

Safely and accurately execute tasks related to the day to day operation of the pilot unit. These tasks can include (but are not limited to) collecting chemical samples, performing chemical transfers, process start-up, process shut-down, and collecting process readings.

Proactively identifies and reports issues related to equipment, safety, and execution to on-shift supervisor.

Write safe work permits and monitor the work of contractors within the pilot unit.

Utilize a forklift for the movement of materials (chemicals and equipment) within the complex.

Perform basic math calculations for materials and recipes.

Correctly utilizes all personal protective equipment such as respirators, protective foot wear, hearing protection, eye/face protection, hard hat, gloves, chemical and/or fire-retardant clothing, etc.

Follow verbal and detailed written instructions and adheres to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and EHS/PSM policies, procedures, and processes.

Physical & Work Requirements

Must become familiar with Chevron Phillips standard safe work practices such as LTT, safe work permits, and EHS policies

Work 12-hour, rotating shifts including weekends. Overtime may be required.

Must be able to lift 55 lb to at least a four (4) foot height

Must be able to climb steps and ladders and work on open grid work decks (up to 5 stories)

Requires moving of 55-gallon drums with dollies

Must have the ability to operate pallet jacks

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

Must possess basic math skills for daily calculations of materials and process changes

Must be able to use a computer for data input, email, and reviewing SOPs.

Position requires ability to use mechanical aptitude to do routine maintenance work and troubleshoot an operating process.

Capable of using heavy pipe wrenches and other hand tools

Familiar with Chevron Phillips standard safe work practices such as LTT, safe work permits, and EHS policies.

Compliance with all Federal/State regulations and Chevron Phillips policies regarding safety, environment and health
