SHIFT DIFFERENTIALS - ADDITIONAL $3.00 FOR 3RD SHIFTJOB DESCRIPTION
In conjunction with nursing management, the RN or LPN, utilizes a general understanding of the principles of nursing and basic physical assessment skills in the development and implementation of individualized nursing care plans to ensure that the needs of the residents are met. He/she assists in the orientation and provides supervision of nursing staff, attends to the daily operations of the unit, and assumes responsibilities of a leadership role.
Major Responsibilities
1. Care for multiple residents in the facility.
2. Observe Resident Rights
3. Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living.
4. Bathing: Dressing
5. Feeding; Pass and pick up food trays; serve nourishments; keep record of intake and output
6. Transfer to and from bed or chair or other locations within the facility
7. Assist to and from toilet, assist with any toileting needs
8. Keep incontinent residents clean
9. Monitor and record bowel movements
10. Pass and empty bedpans, urinals, and emesis basins; collect specimens such as urine, stool, and sputum
11. Reposition residents in bed or chair
12. Assist with personal and dental hygiene
13. Assist in ambulation
14. Make beds, change linens
15. Answer call bells and make rounds
16. Provide postmortem care
17. Take and record vital signs
18. Measure and record height and weight
19. Record activities of Daily Living on flow sheets
20. Observe residents and note physical condition, attitude, reactions, appetite, etc. and report and changes to the nurse.
21. Use safety devices and standard precautions to prevent the spread of infection and disease
22. Monitor dining room during mealtimes as scheduled
23. Evacuate residents in an emergency, according to fire and evacuation policy.
Additional Functions of State Tested Nursing Assistant(STNA):1. Assist nurse with admitting, transferring, and discharging residents
2. Assist nurse in giving treatments and examining residents
3. Assist with restorative and rehab care with proper instruction and supervision
Equipment Used:1. Stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, scale, tray, carts, Hoyer lift, whirlpool tub, wheelchairs, walkers, canes, charts, linens, towels, standard precautions (PPE), thermometers. Urinals, bed pans, commodes, and personal hygiene supplies.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Abilitytoread,write,speak,andunderstandthe Englishlanguage.
2. Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant suchaction.
3. Ability to work harmoniously with others.
4. Ability to relate information concerning a resident'scondition.
5.Abilitynottoposeadirectthreattothehealthorsafetyofotherindividualsintheworkplace.
6.Ability to meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a medical and physicalexamination.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School diploma or GED equivalent.
2. Current state STNA license.
