Description We are offering a role in the healthcare industry located in Westerville, Ohio, United States. The position is for a Medical Accounts Receivable Specialist who will primarily focus on expediting the collection of payments at the highest level of reimbursement allowed for the medical services provided. This is a contract employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Review outstanding medical claims and follow up with insurance carriers regarding denials for specified physicians. Monitor claims that remain unpaid and ensure they are followed up on. Communicate professionally with physicians and their staff regarding reimbursement problems when necessary. Conduct audits on charges for optimal charge coding when needed and communicate any carrier claims denial patterns to the supervisor. Stay updated on changes in medical billing and coding procedures and follow insurance carrier guidelines. Record accurately the account receivable note of actions taken on each claim denial. Follow department collection guidelines and procedures for outstanding patient and insurance balances related to assigned carriers and/or providers. Submit corrected claims and appeals to insurance carriers in a timely manner. Respond to all types of correspondence within a week of receipt. Maintain professional communication with patients, insurance carriers and other outside entities. Handle negative situations with patients professionally and maintain a pleasant and professional tone during stressful circumstances and heavy workload. Collaborate with staff members in a professional, pleasant manner, sharing information relevant to work.Skills required include but are not limited to Insurance Claims, Medical Claims, Audit Functions, Claims audits, Medical Office, Electronic Medical Record, EMR - Electronic Medical Records, Insurance Billing, Insurance Denials, Insurance Follow-up, Medical Insurance, Medical Insurance Billing, Patient Insurance, Medical Collections, Patient Accounting, Patient Balance, Patient Collections, Patient Interaction, Patient Medical Records, Patient Payments. Requirements Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role. Proficiency with insurance claims, particularly in a medical setting. Familiarity with medical claims and audit functions. Experience in performing claims audits. Ability to work efficiently in a medical office environment. Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems. Experience with insurance billing and handling insurance denials. Capable of following up on insurance matters. Knowledgeable about medical insurance and medical insurance billing. Familiarity with patient insurance matters. Experience in medical collections. Understanding of patient accounting and patient balance management. Ability to handle patient collections. Excellent patient interaction skills. Experience in managing patient medical records. Ability to handle patient payments.
