We support flexible working arrangements wherever possible.Position SummaryThe Controls Engineer is responsible for daily production line support to maintain product throughput and process improvements. This includes problem solving associated with machine downtime, product defects, and safety issues. This position works closely with shop floor operators, maintenance technicians, and the leadership team in the plant.Responsibilities

Identify opportunities for improvement within the process equipment

Troubleshoot all industrial controls systems: PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, barcode scanners, frequency drives, motion control, load cells, AC/DC motors, etc.

Technical resource for maintenance assisting with solving problems, implementing solutions and will focus on equipment and systems redesign, efficiency improvements, costs savings, and line upgrades

Manage and modify electrical drawings of all systems

Modify PLC programs to address the needs of production and maintenance

Assist in the creation of work instructions for all end user process involving HMI’s

Troubleshoot and design 24VDC safety circuits, 480/208/120 VAC

The ability to read and create electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics

Ability to program and debug PLC’s (Allen Bradley RS Logix 500 and Studio 5000)

Communicate with customers/suppliers as necessary

Utilize critical thinking to determine root cause of faults

Ensure electrical changes are compliant with the NEC/OHSA/Energizer standards

Use critical thinking skills to determine if a problem is mechanical or electrical

On call support and overtime as necessary

What we are looking for

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering OR equivalent in education and experience (5-7 years of high-speed automated assembly equipment)

Read and create electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics

Strong understanding of mechanical design and fabrication

Knowledge of machine guarding systems

Able to lift 40lbs

What we would prefer (not required)

Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt

Lean manufacturing techniques

Experience in leading cross-functional teams to accomplish objectives

Understanding and familiarity with fluid handling systems such as pumps, pressure vessels, bulk fluid storage, fluid transfer, fillers, etc.
