Job Description SummaryBROAD FUNCTION:Set up and operate standard machine tools and specialized equipment to make, modify and rework parts and assemblies as directed. Will use all types of measuring and hand tools and perform related duties. Will work from written procedures, blueprints, sketches, and/or verbal instructions. Write planning as required. Will receive work assignments throughout the machine shop and will operate various machine tools. Will perform repetitive and/or single piece lot work. Must be able to assist and be directed by higher rated machinist and/or toolmaker in the manufacture of a variety of machine components and assemblies, and to develop/implement new processes. Machinists own the repair process from start to finish, so they must be willing to bench, inspect, steam/clean, grit blast, etc. to keep hardware moving. Maintain associated paperwork. May be called upon to disposition hardware, maintain/change routers, quote, and write DR’s. Instruct others as required and perform related duties.Job DescriptionMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Pass machinist written and functional test.

Previous experience in the set-up and operation of standard machine tools.

Job shop experience and/or vocational training in machine trades with some practical machining shop experience (i.e. VTL, VBM, Lathe, Bridgeport, Mills, Drills, Grinders, etc.).

Experience operating various hand and power tools and basic machine tools and equipment.

Experience using shop math, including fraction and, decimals, with ability to learn algebraic expressions and trigonometry.

Demonstrated skill in the use of Manufacturing/Inspection gages and precision measuring instruments.

Experience in inspecting machined hardware

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

5 years experience in operating various types of machinery. (3 points)

Experience with C.N.C. or N.C. equipment. (2 points)

Experience in using CMM equipment. (1 point)

Experience in operating material handling and lifting devices, including ability to obtain a forklift license as required. (1 point)

Experience in preventative maintenance and assisting in machine repairs (1 point)

Experience in working with computers, applications, and keyboarding. (1 point)
