Job Purpose:
Produces painted surfaces of company products by determining painting requirements, preparing surfaces, applying paints, and maintaining equipment. Part-time to full-time, depending on additional skills outside of painting. Monday through Friday, 1st shift.
Duties:
Surface preparation including sanding, grinding, cleaning, and masking.
Paint company products using an airless spray gun in an open paint area.
Maintains and adjusts equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and schedules to ensure a quality product.
Maintains safe conditions by following guidelines and procedures for working in a paint area.
Wear a respirator and can perform all duties associated with wearing this equipment.
Work independently with little direction.
Follow verbal work instructions and complete required reporting documents.
Perform required quality checks.
Load and unload paint line.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Able to read a tape measure within 1/16"
Able to perform basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
Able to convert decimals to fractions and fractions to decimals
Required to pass an initial and annual respirator medical evaluation and respirator fit test
Prior experience and basic understanding of an airless paint system and industrial paint applications
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Employees will be exposed to materials that have SDS sheets but are not life-threatening. Employee will be required to be fitted and wear a respirator as required.
Work Environment:
The work environment is an industrial metal fabrication shop with exposure to machinery, fumes, and airborne particles. The noise level is the non air conditioned work environment is usually moderate. All required PPE, including steel toe shoes and safety glasses must be worn and a clean work environment must be maintained.
