Logistics Specialist

This is a hybrid role in Perrysburg, Ohio.This role will be part of a centralized Logistics Team within the Supply Chain Organization and will be responsible for daily shipment optimization and load tendering for a designated geographic region. This position will execute 25,000 annual transactions, equating to a spend of $12MM. This candidate will also build and maintain effective relationships with transportation carriers, Customer Service, and Plant Shipping personnel to ensure that shipments are handled in the most cost-effective manner possible while maintaining exceptional delivery service to the customers. Responsibilities: Assign and tender shipments to O-I preferred carriers using O-I's transportation management system (TMS) to optimize service, capacity and cost. Manually tender load(s) that have not been accepted through the TMS waterfall carrier selection process by calling carriers to verbally secure capacity to cover the load(s) as requiredMonitor shipments to ensure on-time pick-up and delivery utilizing the TMS. Proactively follow up as required to ensure desired service results are secured and issues are communicated to all parties · Coordinate first response activity to resolve service issues. Escalate issues as required to the Transportation & Warehousing Leader and/or Logistics Manager Assist carriers in resolving issues regarding loading, unloading, appointments, unplanned accessorial requests, etc. and communicate to appropriate parties as necessary Support shipping/receiving locations with carrier issues, trailer pool coordination, rush shipment arrangements, and problem resolution as necessary Analyze existing shipping processes for possible improvements and provide support for various implementation plans to effect ongoing productivity improvementAnalyze and monitor carrier capacity commitments and adjust system parameters in order to obtain maximum cost savings and service levelsCoordinate reverse logistic flow of returns goods and returnable packaging as required. Work with inbound carriers for all modes of transportation and assist the plants with service-related issues Monitor daily shipment transactions to ensure accuracy of outbound/inbound freight payment
