Description If you're an experienced accountant with a knack for accuracy, there's currently an opening through Robert Half for Staff Accountant at a growing Wholesale Distribution firm. Based in the Mason, Ohio region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted long-term contract / contract to permanent opportunity where effort is rewarded. In this role, the Staff Accountant holds responsibility for preparing monthly and year-end closings, fixed asset maintenance, journal entries, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. A very involved position, this role produces Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, many aspects of internal reporting will be your responsibility. You'll also be involved in compliance, communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes.Major responsibilities
Partake in annual closing processes
Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner
Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Be a part of various department-wide initiatives
Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings
Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll Requirements - Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Deep understanding of bank reconciliations
Monthly Financials experience
Command of month end closings
Comprehensive knowledge of general ledger
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Efficient in ERP systems
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
