Your work will have real-world impact, and you’ll be supported in achieving your career goals.Position: Machine Operator - 1st ShiftLocation/Division: Marietta, OHCompensation: $15 hourlyThe Marietta Manufacturing site is a part of the Laboratory Products Division within Thermo Fisher Scientific. Our laboratory equipment products are used primarily by pharmaceutical companies for drug discovery and development and by biotechnology companies and universities for life science research to advance the prevention and cure of diseases and enhance quality of life. Our offering consists of equipment, accessories, and services for sample preparation, storage and protection, and analysis.How will you make an impact?Supporting the manufacturing process by performing job duties in a safe and efficient manner by turning, milling and drilling parts for productions and maintenance.Key Responsibilities:Sets up machines and operate all machining,centers, lathes, mills and machine shop equipment.

Identifies job specific information from Operating Process Sheet "OPS" and references related information via various methods/locations to accomplish quality in-spec production.

Maintains clean, orderly work area to support others as well as safety, quality, etc.

Works in teams to accomplish overall goals regarding safety, efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Maintains awareness of surrounding activities and chooses behaviors that support safety.

Protective Equipment required for safe operation and risks that are present.

Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by applying safety knowledge, maintaining awareness of the environment, contributing to an organized work area, and attending safety training as required.

Communicates with others in department, supervisors, and other departments to accomplish production goals.

Follows 5S guidelines by maintaining work area standards to accomplish safety and production goals.

Attends team shift change meetings each day to review production board to communicate safety issues, team member status, etc.

Reads MSDS via computer when needed to maintain personal and environmental safely.

Attends safety training when asked to do so in order to achieve the Company's goal of personal and environmental safety.

Reads and converts numerical systems including decimals and fractions.

Reads blueprints/layout drawings and other formats of information to retrieve data to identify process to be implemented.

Scans bar codes to track time/production, enters employee information, identifies and enters codes regarding activities.

Tends one or more automated machines to process metal work pieces to specification.

Contributes to team success by choosing behaviors that support others to maintain safety, quality, and production goals.

Suggests improvements in work methods and procedures by discussing with supervisor, contributing through team efforts, and works with existing teams to move the company forward.

Trains new or transitioning workers when asked to do so emphasizing safety and quality.

Accesses computer to retrieve or enter production specifications.

Works closely with engineering department when implementing new designs and custom fabrication and submits Engineering Change Request when needed.

Coordinates activities with others in department to insure effective process movement and to meet Company goals regarding production.

Perform all job duties in a safe manner and obey all safety policies and procedures.

Perform all job duties consistent with the Code of Ethics and the 4-I Values.

Perform all job duties within ISO standards, regulatory or statutory requirements.

Participate in Continuous Improvement and support all PPI, Keys and Lean projects.

Perform other duties and cross training as assigned.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:High School Diploma/GED.

Experience Requirements: Minimum one year of machining experience and experience with CNC machining equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesPhysical Demands:

Ability to frequently lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend, kneel, reach, lift repetitively in a hectic, noisy environment in hot, cold conditions, with airborne dust/fumes present while paying special attention to critical processes.

Ability to work in hot, cold, dusty, elevated, noisy area where foot and motorized equipment movement is present.

Ability to lift, position, move, bend in order to accomplish production goals that require loading, adjusting, turning, and removing small and large parts.

Ability to maneuver work pieces by hand in a repetitive manner conductive to efficiency, job specifications, safety, and quality goals.

Ability to distinguish basic colors and shapes when running CNC punch press.

Computer Experience: Ability to maintain basic knowledge of SAP Operating System and Windows Operating System.
