Description Robert Half is looking to staff a contract employment opportunity for a Sr. Cost Accountant to join our client's team in Independence. In this role, you will utilize your skills in Cost Accounting, Cost Analysis, SAP, Standard Costing, and Monthly Financial Reporting to support our financial department. This role is fully on site, and it's a replacement for a departing employee. Responsibilities: Update standard costs in the bill of materials Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies Validate the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles Work with the materials review board to locate and dispose of obsolete inventory Conduct ongoing process constraint analyses Report on breakeven points by products, work centers, and factories Report on margins by product and division Report on periodic variances and their causes, focusing in particular on spending variances Analyze capital budgeting requestsRequirements Possession of a minimum of 7 years of experience in a Cost Accounting role or in a similar capacity. Demonstrated proficiency in Cost Accounting and Cost Analysis. Proficiency in the use of SAP software for various accounting tasks. Proven experience in Standard Costing and its application in the accounting process. Experience in preparing and presenting Monthly Financial Reporting. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is preferred. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make well-judged decisions. Familiarity with financial regulations and legislation. High level of integrity and professionalism.
