Job Overview

As an IT Systems Administrator, your primary focus will be on overseeing and supporting Great Lakes Cheese ("GLC") IT infrastructure. This role involves managing servers, storage networks, operating systems, backup, virtualization, and critical systems. Key responsibilities include analyzing and resolving system-related issues, implementing solutions, and providing ongoing support.

Job Responsibilities

Administer, configure, and monitor VMware/vSphere/ESX in various server environments.

Manage server technologies, including Windows 2016, 2019, 2022, RHEL Linux.

Manage on-premises services like Active Directory, Endpoint Management, and backup services.

Support Microsoft Email and SharePoint Administration.

Participate in the development and implementation of automated system configuration tools.

Assist in system maintenance, patching, and vulnerability remediation efforts and ensure the highest level of systems and infrastructure availability.

Coordinate and implement change management requests related to IT Systems.

Troubleshoot, identify, and document root causes.

Support IT Infrastructure projects of varying sizes and complexities from inception to completion.

Perform server upgrades following GLC change control and quality control standards.

Create IT Infrastructure systems documentation and procedures.

Handle storage administration following Best Practices.

Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure for the organization.

Install, configures, and test operating systems, application software, and system management tools.

Implement warranty and support activities.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or commensurate experience in related field.

4 years of technical experience or more in a manufacturing environment.

Experience supporting Microsoft Windows Servers (physical/virtual) and Operating Systems.

Experience supporting VMware, vCenter virtual environments.

Strong understanding of network design and network hardware.

Strong analytical skills and have good written and verbal communication skills.

Understanding of storage area networking (SAN) devices, switching, and cabling.

Current understanding of best practices regarding system security measures.

Ability to work in both office and production settings.

Ability to provide 24/7 support on an on-call basis.

Ability to rapidly gain and apply knowledge of GLC manufacturing processes.

Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

Preferred Education and Experience

Experience with managing Microsoft Exchange, including high availability and database availability group (DAG) environments, on premise, Office 365, or hybrid environments.

Experience configuring and supporting Microsoft Failover Clustering.

Experience managing Backup and Recovery solutions such as Veem.

Experience managing Microsoft SQL Server.

Basic understanding of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting.

Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35F to 100F; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
