General Role description
The Production Clerk is responsible for a variety of production and purchasing functions in support of the Production Coordinator such as soliciting quotes, sending purchase orders, managing delivery schedules, coordinating vendor receipts with receiving and quality departments, and monitoring performance of all vendors within a manufacturing environment. The Clerk is also responsible for recording production activity, production metrics, moving parts and order travelers throughout the production process and monitoring WIP and inventory levels.
Position Primary Responsibilities:
Work with vendors to solicit price quotes, coordinate work, place purchase orders, and obtain updated delivery dates
Work with vendors to expedite orders to meet customer delivery deadlines
Interact with Shipping/Receiving departments to coordinate order fulfillment and shipping priorities
Assist production department in day-to-day clerical activities as directed
Daily Activities:
Respond to Email/Verbal requests
Assist with ad hoc lead time/quote requests
Purchase Orders:
o Receive POs
o Pull picks slips and take to shipping, match outgoing parts with picks for shipment
o Follow up with open orders
Scan all Parts/Material Certificates received
Record production data from department check-sheets
Required Skills:
Experience in an office environment
Strong written and verbal English skills
Strong in basic computer skills (Email, word processing, typing, etc)
Mid-level Excel expertise: Must be adept at data entry, sorting, formulas (basic math only), and accurately maintaining/managing data
Attention to Detail
Additional Preferred Skills:
Purchasing experience a plus
High school diploma, some college preferred but not required
MRP experience
Inventory Management experience
