OverviewTITLE: Ministry Assistant DEPARTMENT: Worship & Arts REPORTS TO: Corps Officers/Pastors SUPERVISES: N/A STATUS: Non-Exempt SCHEDULE: Full-time. Must be willing and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays in order to fulfill duties as outlined below. FUNCTION: This is a ministry-centered (religious) role. The Ministry Assistant will serve in support to the Corps Officer and a team member who builds the bridge between church to the community and vice versa. They will be intimately and integrally involved in the ministry of the Corps, (church) including teaching, leading, and preaching the Gospel Message. The Ministry Assistant will be involved in Corps Administration; Youth, Social, Sports Ministries; and Community Relations. Their character and attitude must always promote the principles in keeping with the Mission of The Salvation Army. ResponsibilitiesOverview:

Maintain a daily devotional and prayer life.

Develop and maintain programs and ministries to enhance the healthy spiritual, physical, and emotional development of those under your influence.

Responsible for conducting youth ministries to preteens, teens and young/older adults through evangelism, discipleship, and Christian service.

In coordination with the Corps Officers - Plan, lead, and assist Corps Youth, Teen, and adult programs.

DUTIES:

Weekly Leadership and Support for Corps Sunday Programming.

Regular contact and visitation of those that participate in youth activities and their families.

Assist with the Mobile Feeding Program.

Provide leadership and support as needed for youth activities.

Senior’s Ministries Programming - Coordinate or assist Prime Time programming.

Assist with the afterschool & summer day camp programs as directed by Corps Officers.

Assist with the seasonal ministries as directed by Corps Officers.

Provide support to Kroc Community Events as directed by Corps Officers.

Provide support to other Kroc Departments as directed by Corps Officers.

Veteran’s Hospital and Nursing Home Visitation.

Assist as needed with Camp SWONEKY summer program.

Assist during the Red Kettle Program with the kettle distribution/pickups.

Represent the Corps by attending community engagement events.

All other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by Corps Officers.

Qualifications

2 years’ experience in Children and/or Youth Ministry Programs

Bachelor’s degree in Youth / Children Ministry (or related ministry field) preferred.

A Uniformed Salvationist in good standing, with a willingness to soldier at the Dayton Kroc Center is preferred. Must attend The Salvation Army services on Sunday mornings.

Must uphold Biblical standards in personal and professional life, including fiscal support of the Corps (church) Ministry.

Responsible, accountable, respectful, positive role model and be able to follow instructions.

Ability to maintain the highest standard of professionalism and confidentiality during and after employment, in all matters.

Coordinate effective flow of work through the Worship & Arts office for the Corps and programs.

Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to read and write effectively; follow written instructions, adhere to policies and procedures of The Salvation Army.

Strong knowledge of computers and Microsoft programs is required.

Must possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License and a willingness to drive a 12-passenger van.
