RTP Company is seeking one permanent full-time 2nd Shift Quality Assurance Lab Technician for its Gahanna, Ohio facility. Headquartered in Winona, Minnesota, RTP Company is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics. The company has over 20 manufacturing plants located in the United States, Mexico, Europe, Singapore, and China.

DESCRIPTION:

This position is responsible for performing the required testing and inspection of injection molded specimens and pellet samples for production, sample, experimental, and raw material product types.

WORK SCHEDULE: 2nd Shift: 1:45 PM to 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

WAGE AND BENEFIT INFORMATION: $24.25/hour plus $1.35/hour 2nd Shift pay = $25.60/hour; wages paid weekly. Benefits offerings include medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401K retirement, paid holidays and vacation, and others.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform required testing of RTP plastics. Typical testing includes in-production process control along with ash, moisture, melt flow, and contamination inspections.

Perform injection molding on test panels.

Maintain accurate records of all testing performed.

Follow all safety rules and participate in all safety training.

Collaborate with QA Manager to continually work towards the highest quality products.

Participate in training, retraining, and continual improvement processes and methods.

Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow standardized work process, and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment.

Excellent attention to detail required.

Ability to perform basic mathematical testing calculations.

Basic computer skills required.

Ability to read and follow manuals and procedures.

Must be dependable and have excellent attendance.

Must be willing and able to work overtime as needed.

Must be willing and able to work in temperature extremeshot and cold.

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma preferred.

Prior related thermoplastic injection molding and/or plastics mechanical testing experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Regularly:

Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.

Talk and hear to coordinate and operate equipment.

Use of safety equipment as dictated by the work (safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, gloves, etc.)

Exposure to moving mechanical parts.

Frequently:

Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Work in temperature extremes, wet and/or humid conditions, with dust, fumes, airborne particles, etc.

Occasionally:

Sit.

Exposure to noise levels above the OSHA action level requiring use of hearing protection.

Other:

May require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
