Greasing the wheels behind the scenes, our people in Operations are the backbone of our Company.GENERAL FUNCTIONLead role in the kilogram-scale manufacture of specialty chemicals including dyes and dye intermediates for use by both internal and external customers.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Specialty chemical production on kilogram scales

Chemical apparatus set-up, reactor loading (solvents, raw materials) and unloading

Chemical process monitoring and control

Crude product purification (crystallization, chromatography, rotary evaporation, solvent recovery)

Spectroscopy (ultraviolet, visible, infrared, NMR) and Data Analysis

Quality control

Record keeping (Laboratory notebooks, Certificates of Analysis)

Chemical equipment preventive maintenance and repair (Reactors, Evaporators, Pumps, etc.)

Reporting (Standard Operating Procedures, Production reports)

Compliance with safety and environmental regulations (OSHA, EPA) and internal practices

Regulatory Compliance

Support both R&D and Manufacturing in safety and environmental compliance

Support internal and external customers in safety and environmental compliance

Support corporate ES&H initiatives

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field

Certifications: None required

Experience: 2 years of industrial experience or equivalent

Expertise in handling chemicals and chemical equipment

Expertise with running analytical instruments including GC, UV/Vis spectrometers

Expertise with Microsoft Office applications Excellent oral and written communication skills

Familiarity with EPA (TSCA), OSHA (including HazCom), ECHA/REACH beneficial

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree, Organic Chemistry or Bachelor's degree with 4 years of industrial experience

Expertise in handling chemicals and chemical equipment on kilogram scales

Expertise in maintaining an NMR spectrometer and interpreting NMR spectra

Expertise with maintaining analytical instruments including GC, UV/Vis spectroscopy

Familiarity with SciFinder and SAP
