Founded in 1837, Cuyahoga County’s safety-net health system operates four hospitals, four emergency departments and more than 20 health centers.Summary:As a key member of the Executive Leadership team, the Chief Ethics, Risk, & Compliance Officer reports to the CEO and assumes a strategic role in the overall management of the organization's Compliance, Ethics and Enterprise Risk areas, including Internal Audit functions.The Chief Ethics, Risk, & Compliance Officer has responsibility for strategic planning and operational leadership pertaining to compliance and regulatory issues as well as oversight of the enterprise-wide comprehensive compliance, risk, and internal audit program. As a result, this position has direct access and dotted line reporting to the Board of Directors for the purpose of advising and making recommendations to the Board about compliance, enterprise risk, and internal audit issues.Provides strategic direction and fulfillment of the The MetroHealth System’s (MHS) mission and vision by planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining System-wide culture of ethics and compliance.Serves as a role model for ethical management and behavior and promotes an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles, as well as the need to comply with legal, regulatory, and ethical requirements.As the compliance leader and subject matter expert, establishes standards and implements procedures to ensure that the compliance programs of the organization are effective and efficient in identifying, preventing, detecting, and correcting noncompliance with applicable laws and regulations.As a member of the senior leadership team, participates with the President and other senior leaders in institutional planning, policy development, and problem resolution.Serves as ambassador for the MetroHealth System and builds positive community relationships.Advances the organization’s position with relevant constituents, as well as drives broader awareness and support for The MetroHealth System.Upholds the mission, vision, values, and ethical standards of The MetroHealth System.Qualifications:Required:· Bachelor’s degree required in health administration, business administration or related field; Juris Doctor or Advanced Degree preferred (e.g., Juris Doctor, master’s degree in healthcare administration, MBA).· Minimum of ten (10) years health care management experience.· Minimum of six (6) to eight (8) years of compliance experience within the healthcare industry.· Advanced knowledge of and experience in healthcare industry and with laws, regulations and standards applicable to health care organizations, particularly physician medical practices and integrated healthcare delivery systems.· Demonstrated ability to design and implement effective programs related to health care compliance.· Visible, approachable individual who is an effective communicator, educator, and motivator of people and teams.· Ability to establish positive relationships and work effectively with people at all levels within the organization, across The MetroHealth System, and externally.· Must exhibit a high level of motivation, team orientation, professionalism, and trustworthiness, and place a high value on treating others with dignity and respect.· Ability to plan, coordinate, direct, and evaluate a variety of activities and projects.· Ability to understand and explain complex regulations in clear and concise language.· Strategic business partner with strong business acumen who is adept at managing and reducing potential risk and exposure while furthering strategic objectives.· Proactive, self-starting, driven, pragmatic, astute, solution-oriented professional who has a strong leadership presence.· Flexible, open-minded, and adaptable.· Engenders confidence and trust and possesses ability to motivate people into action.
