Advance Apex is looking for a skilled machinist, who is quality-minded and takes pride in their work, to work on a part-time contract basis. Parts will include repair, modifications, and new parts. Turnaround requirements could include same-day emergency breakdowns to 3 weeks; weekends and hours outside of 7am – 3pm. Our customers operate 24/7 and often have repairs that need to be completed outside of normal business hours. You would need to be willing to work whenever needed.
You will need to provide your own machining equipment. Advance will help supply tooling and materials as needed. You might need to work with Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Tool Steel, and Plastics.
Compensation to be based on an hourly rate or per job.
We can assist with tooling needs and certain inspection equipment for the job requirements. We can also provide material and hardware.
Typical tolerance ranges from +/- .003" to +/- .010" unless it's a bearing fit which could be anywhere from a press to slip fit depending on the requirement.
Most parts are under 100 pounds.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Must be able to work from verbal instructions, samples, sketches, and prints.
Work with both metric and imperial dimensions and thread sizes.
Must have 8"x36" manual lathe and a 9"x49" knee mill; CNC is a plus.
Welding of Stainless, Steel, and Aluminum is also a plus.
