Do you thrive on helping organizations align their tax strategy, financial systems, and long-term goals, without having to do the manual categorizing and filing yourself? Are you a QuickBooks expert who can also explain complex topics in plain language?
Humans Being Human Consulting is a women-owned, mission-driven human services organization seeking a part-time Small Business Tax Advisor & QuickBooks Consultant for a 3-month engagement (September 1–November 30, 2025). The ideal candidate will help us refine our existing financial systems, support our tax planning, and guide strategic growth. This role is designed as a short-term contract with the intention of building toward a long-term, ongoing relationship based on fit and performance.
We are a hybrid team, so being able to work virtually is a must and occasionally in-person is a plus! While this is a fully remote role, Ohio-based applicants are encouraged to apply as there may be occasional opportunities for in-person collaboration with our leadership team.

What You’ll Do:
-Prepare and file three (3) amended federal tax returns, ensuring accuracy, full documentation, and IRS compliance
-Prepare and file one (1) federal and state tax return
-Calculate and advise on two (2) quarterly estimated tax payments, including timelines, payment methods, and strategic planning
-Guide us in identifying and documenting tax-deductible expenses while offering recommendations to improve our existing record-keeping systems
-Support our team in refining how we track and flag deductions. Our systems are already in place, and our staff manages categorization and filing
-Communicate consistently and clearly throughout the engagement to help us meet our fall infrastructure goals
Bonus Skills (Not Required, But a Big Plus!):
-Provide financial coaching to our team, explaining tax and financial strategies in plain, patient, and inclusive language
-Lead quarterly financial consultations related to pricing strategy, profit margins, and long-term sustainability
-Offer high-level QuickBooks guidance: review our setup, answer staff questions, and help optimize how we generate and interpret reports
-Use financial data to guide strategy, helping us translate QuickBooks reports into sales plans, budgets, and growth projections
-If the engagement is extended, prepare and file our 2025 federal tax return

Requirements:
-Strong knowledge of U.S. tax law for small businesses and independent contractors, especially within the human services or health/wellness sectors
-Intermediate to advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online, including reporting, categorization, reconciliation, and the ability to train others
-Experience working with small, mission-driven businesses, especially those that are women-led or focused on human services
-Clear, patient communication skills, you’re comfortable supporting team members who don’t have a financial background
-Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
-Available for a part-time, virtual contract from Sept.- Nov. 2025 (estimated 8 hrs per month)
-Comfortable with virtual tools and must have a Google Account to apply.
-Excited about building a long-term partnership and open to ongoing contracts beyond the initial engagement
-Preference given to candidates located in Ohio who are open to occasional in-person meetings near Cincinnati, OH
Compensation:
Trial Period (September–November 2025): Flat project fee based on estimated hours and deliverables (estimated 8 hrs per month)
Projected range: $1,200–$1,500 total for initial contract (final rate determined based on scope and experience)
Opportunity to transition to a flexible hourly or retainer model if extended past November
