Job Title: Packaging EngineerJob DescriptionWe are seeking a talented Packaging Engineer 2 to join our team. The Packaging Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing returnable and expendable packaging for individual parts and bulk shipping. The role involves ensuring the timely and efficient receipt and delivery of material while maintaining part integrity through warehousing and production processes. This position requires collaboration with suppliers and internal process partners to provide cost-effective packaging solutions.Responsibilities

Establish packaging and processing specifications at the part number level for new product introductions, cost savings, or other supply chain improvements.

Develop, communicate, and maintain supplier packaging requirements.

Lead initiatives and collaborate with suppliers and facilities to improve efficiency within receiving, warehousing, and/or line-side delivery.

Create packaging concepts and container layouts using 3D modeling software (e.g., Pro-E).

Perform cost analysis and develop business cases for implementing packaging improvements.

Procure and validate new packaging and containers during the pilot phase.

Audit supplier conformance to packaging specifications.

Essential Skills

Bachelor of Science Degree or associate's degree in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field

1-3 years of experience as a Packaging Engineer or Packaging Analyst.

Knowledge of CAD, packaging, and material handling.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, organization, and communication skills.

Understanding of 6 Sigma project management principles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with Manufacturing Enterprise Packaging System.

Experience in conducting cost analysis and preparing business cases.

Experience in supplier collaboration and implementing packaging and logistics changes.

Knowledge and experience with Pack Assistant and Teamcenter.

Familiarity with company policies and procedures

Additional packaging design experience in the automotive or similar industry.

Creo or SolidWorks Packaging Modeling Experience.

Adaptability to adjust to business challenges.

Work EnvironmentThis role requires in-person interaction with supply chain partners and shop floor team members. The position involves working closely with suppliers and internal process partners. The work environment emphasizes the importance of maintaining part quality through cost-effective solutions and adapting to business challenges. The use of 3D modeling software such as Pro-E is essential for creating packaging concepts and container layouts. There is no opportunity for remote work in this role.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $31.00Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
