Support Manufacturing Process Engineering activity for Round Parts Machining (milling, turning, grinding, balancing, polishing, etc.)

Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality and productivity

Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products

Develop action plans as required to investigate and prioritize quality concerns and verify corrective actions on internal processes and supplier processes

Lead and conduct process audits to ensure process discipline is consistent with Vehicle Operations guidelines

Create/maintain process illustrations and instruction sheets supporting quality methods and processes

Deliver capable processes and tools for Round Parts Machining

Lead role in resolving round parts machining related concerns. Support variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives and best practices

Ensure compliance to Plant, Corporate, Governmental and Environmental standards

Back up ISO 14001 compliance and support internal ISO auditing and compliance as required

Support continuous improvement in safety, quality and productivity in Round Parts Machining

Identify throughput constraints and drive root cause improvements

Develop, scope and implement Capital Improvement and Basic Equipment Wellness projects

Determine product design change feasibility and cost for manufacturing. Implement product design changes on the manufacturing floor

You'll have

High School Diploma or GED

3 or more years’ experience working in a machining environment (internship and coop experience will be considered)

Even better, you may have

Bachelors Degree

Effective oral and written communication skills

2 or more years in the automotive industry

Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience

8D and 5Why corrective action and problem solving skills

Solid understanding of Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping

Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve Control (DMAIC) and DMADV / Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) Project Methodology experience

Knowledge of Failure Modes Effects & Analysis (FMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Design of Experiments (DOEs) experience

Knowledge of Total Quality Management (TQM) and Kaizen Methods

Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), Machining Process Stackups, Statistical Process Control, Cutting tool & Process experience

Gauging, layout and inspection experience

Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills
