Job Description

Senior Telecom Engineer

Responsible for the installation, problem diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a full range of communications wiring and equipment encompassing analog and digital technologies. Addresses issues of availability/reliability for voice, data, signal, and image processing connectivity for all facilities. Provides support services for all Unified Communications voice and LAN/WAN networks including wiring, connectors, CSU/DSUs, smart jacks, voice mail, modems, and other related IP and voice peripherals and instruments. Responsible for architecting and establishing standards for a multitude of Unified Communications products including, but not limited to, Call Manager, Unity, Unity Connection, IPCC, CVP, Video, Conferencing, Presence, general IP collaboration, call recording, SIP, Vocera, wireless etc.

Duties & Responsibilities:

· Insures optimal design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise-wide unified communications services, including PBXs, ACDs (Automatic Call Distributors), Key Telephones, Centrex Services, WATS, Long Distance, data services, voice messaging, IVR (Interactive Voice Response), video, network connectivity, Wireless, and Imaging systems.

· Works closely with various Unified Communication vendors to ensure System needs and standards are met.

· Works closely with network engineers ensuring common goals are achieved and tasks are completed.

· Ensures proper documentation is produced and retained on all relevant activities, configurations and architectures and insures utilization of the proper software tools.

· Maintains a working knowledge of published communications standards as well as local, state, and national electric and fire codes.

· Evaluates new communications technology and vendor products and services when requested; makes appropriate recommendations.

· Provides telecommunications equipment and service training to users and other non-technical personnel on features, operational use, trouble reporting methods and problem resolution techniques.

· Ensures maintenance of Unified Communications Cable Management records for equipment locations including detailed cable schematics and cable pair assignments.

· Participates in on-call service rotation; provide 24 x 7 production support on a rotating basis.

· Performs occasional night/weekend work as required due to environmental constraints 12. Serves as an escalation point as a 3rd level engineer for Unified Communications within the enterprise

· Responsible for opening, escalation, and management of tickets with Cisco’s Technical Assistance Center (TAC)

Required Education & Experience:

· High School diploma or equivalent required. Degree in IT preferred.

· Credentials, Licensure or Certification (i.e. RN, RRT): Preferred: Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP) Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA) Microsoft MCP (Windows Server, SQL Server) Or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Voice

· 7+ years of experience with Cisco infrastructure, including design, implementation, and ongoing management and troubleshooting in a mid to large sized environment required.

· Previous experience with Cisco Call Manager & Call Manager Express Unity & Unity Express IPCC Enterprise Layer2 and Layer3 routing and switching Cisco Voice Gateways and routing protocols (SIP/H.323/MGCP/SCCP) WebEx and Zoom

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

· High School diploma or equivalent required. Degree in IT preferred.
