For more information, go to www.goodyear.com/corporate.Co-op/Intern Program Description:The Quality team is looking for talented future leaders to help drive continued quality improvements in our manufacturing plants. The Quality co-op/intern program helps develop those leaders by providing a fast-paced, hands-on, and varied learning experience. The program provides the opportunity for up to 5 terms rotating across multiple locations that include the Global Headquarters and the North American plants. Students gain experience working across the tire manufacturing process. Students could work on projects with raw materials, rubber compounds, component preparation, tire building, curing, final finish and new product industrialization. The projects require collaboration with various other functions in Goodyear including our Operations and Global Engineering teams. The Quality co-op/intern program provides engineering and science students with the unique and valuable practical experience necessary to understand the quality and manufacturing engineering roles available at Goodyear. The program has proven successful in building a pipeline of candidates for future permanent positions within our manufacturing plant quality teams.What to Expect:
Mentor and co-op/intern will prepare a project plan with milestones and deliverables at the beginning of the assignment
Using your creative ideas, learn to apply appropriate tools and methods to solve problems
Learn to apply innovative solutions to process and product quality requirements
Participate, communicate, and collaborate with various teams within Goodyear to meet project goals
Obtain manufacturing & process engineering experience
Once the student has successfully completed their rotations in our quality co-op/intern program, they ideally would be offered a permanent position in one of our North American plant locations upon graduation.
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the following areas: Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology (Mechanical), Mechatronics, Chemical Engineering, Material ScienceProject Examples:
Tracking plant performance and finding and implement solutions for improvement
Collaborate on the updates and creation of specifications and procedures
Learn the basics of rubber compounding in a corporate and manufacturing environment
Support operation of the equipment to ensure quality and consistency
Design new dies and splice bars to optimize the extrusion process
Work on curing optimization for existing and new tires by completing thermocouple and blow point studies
Review tire quality data to assess uniformity and balance performance and drive improvement projects
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the following areas: Industrial and Systems Engineering, Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management and Computer Engineering.Project Examples:
Work on the use of data to predict trends in the manufacturing processes and perform AI-based root cause analysis.
Working on machine control and/or interface programming
Troubleshooting and resolution of Tire Plant Equipment and System performance issues.
Organizing and transforming information into comprehensible structures
Requirements:
Minimum 3.0 overall GPA required
Must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in one of the following areas: Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology (Mechanical), Mechatronics, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management, Computer Engineering or related major
Demonstrated leadership and strong communication skills
Mobility & availability for relocation
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
