Description Consumer Lending Litigation Specialist Are you interested in a career in Banking or Law? We're looking for a self-starter who wants to grow with us. Responsibilities include providing legal, operational and technical support to the Customer Resolution Management Team, whose primary focus is involved in consumer litigation, mediation, complaints and workouts. This position includes the following assignment, which is routine to moderately complex in nature: Provide technical and operational assistance on loan, lease and mortgage accounts in legal actions. Develops workout strategy on consumer installment and mortgage loans. Prepares new legal assignments and forwards to legal counsel to aid in recovery of the account balance. Oversees complex cases involving mortgage modification, foreclosure and defense legal matters. Establishes complete and accurate records on accounts as required to ensure accuracy in legal reporting. Contacts consumers and attorneys to resolve issues. Manages and approves litigation strategy and authorizes settlements on the bank's behalf. Performs functions as a bank witness and mediator in court. Travel to various courts within the state and outside the state of Ohio. 25% Travel. Testify in court on bank policies and procedures. Coordinate with various departments to provide responses to customer complaints and consumer legal actions. Research, analyze and summarize facts that transpire on various accounts or affect customers regarding litigation matters or customer complaints. Review and provide analysis of state and federal dockets. Review and provide analysis on consumer litigation matters to determine how the bank is impacted. Researching various regulations and case law to assist with litigation strategy. Prepare documents to assist with probate cases. Handle telephone and email inquiries from various departments within the bank as well as from counsel, courts, trustees and customers, which requires learning basic knowledge of multiple products, processes and systems including Mortgage, Personal Credit Lines, Loan, Lease, Credit Card, DDA, Real Property, Foreclosure, Repossessions, Litigation, Fraud, Commercial, Home Savers (Loss Mitigation) and Probate. Review and process electronic and paper mail from the various courts. Manage multiple department emails by researching, responding to and resolving a variety of issues and requests that are somewhat routine with solutions based on past practices and current guidelines. Provide support and answering of routine questions regarding litigation matters. Complete work within set expectations and service levels. Identify relevant industry trends and current matters. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree Minimum of 3 years' research experience, default servicing and/or legal experience. Coursework and internships in college can be considered as experience and must be listed in detail on your resume. Preferred Qualifications: Excellent in customer service, highly motivated, focused, and goal oriented. 1-3 years in a high volume industry working on and resolving complex tasks. Default or foreclosure preferred Background in state and/or federal practice preferred Excellent written and verbal (face-to-face and phone) communication skills including professional grammar and demeanor. Writing samples may be requested.
